From starting out as a woodworker / cabinet maker, I was largely self - taught as an instrument maker.  I made my first instrument, a bowed Psaltery, in 1973.  In 1976, as well as making several more Psalterys I made a Hammered Dulcimer and a Lute.  My first Guitar followed in May 1978, and by 1979 I was taking orders for Guitars.
In 1983 I made my first Mandolin, as well as my first Octave Mandola.

The nineties brought the first lean time as the recession bit hard - I actually did 6 years of part - time shopfitting joinery work to augment the reduced order book.

Happily, since 2000 the repair side of the business has gone from strenght to strength, and my intention for the next 10 years is to build up the business to include more new instruments, particularly Electro-Acoustics.
